Artist’s Statement

The miracle of God made flesh, as an offering to all men of His saving grace and mercy, is the subject of this painting.

The shepherds, witnesses of the Light-come-down, gaze upon the glory of this innocent child and marvel at His purity, wile another sees a vision of the eternal Lord reaching through the clouds to take the hand of Himself as a temporal fleshly creation, in the instant that heaven and earth meet on terra firma. We can wonder that God gave us His only Son, and that as “Immanuel” He dwelt among us for a time, full of love, grace and mercy.

Words to describe this miracle are painted directly into the work, in acknowledgment of this Child-Savior’s name and nature: His name is called the Word of God” (Revelation 19:13).

Now I know why he was born, so that I may be born again.
